For the last two years, we have worked in and out of Eureka Springs, so this year I decided that we would do something similar to what we did in 2007 in Heber Springs......except that we are basing out of Russellville. And I have chosen a route that is very similar to what we took in Heber Springs to include Push Mountain (north to south). And I have found a nice catfish place to stop for an early lunch just north of Mountain View on the White River.
But......even though everyone is invited on this ride, I wanted and have planned to cover a considerable (doable) amount of territory and miles for the Saturday ride (321 miles). So therefore, Linda is not going with me and I'll be riding alone and sharing a room with Joe Freeland. And we will be staying at the Best Western in Russeville, where we have stayed countless times over the years. So here are the details:
Fri, Nov 4th - Depart from the Wylie McDonalds 8:00AM - 366 mi
Sat, Nov 5th - Leave out around 8:00AM - 321 mi
Sun, Nov 6th - Leave for home details TBD - another appproximate 366 mi.
Like I said, we will be staying at the Best Western in Russellville Nov 4th and 5th, where their AAA/AARP rates are $63/night (plus tax)for non-smoking 2 queen beds. So you can go to www.bestwestern.com and register on-line.
And we have a couple of memorable side routes that we might consider which are along the route I have chosen:
- The 2 miles of gravel road to the White River Overlook at Calico Rock.
- Gas up at Yellville.....and this time we will NOT leave Joe Freeland :-)
