Ok we now have the lodging in Maggie Valley setup for our Appalachian Adventure trip for next year. We have rooms reserved at the Jonathan Creek Inn and Villas in Maggie Valley, NC . We have 15 rooms reserved under the Lone Star Riders name and the rooms back up to the creek and each room has 2 queen beds and also a screened in porch that faces the creek. You can go to their website to see what the rooms look like along with the other amenities at the hotel.

The dates we will be in Maggie Valley will be : Arriving Monday May 28th and Departing Sat June 2nd. The rates for the rooms are Mon night thru Thurs night - $81.88 per night plus tax. Friday night - $130.64 plus tax.

I am still working on the other lodging for the rest of the nights we will be gone but we will be staying in Leeds Ala on Sunday May 27th so we can take in the Barber Motorsports Museum. There are two hotels there to choose from and everyone can just call and make your own reservation for that night. You can reserve a room at the Hampton Inn which is right across from the entrance to the Barber Motorsports Complex or the second choice is America's Best Value Inn which is right around the corner from the Hampton Inn. You can't make reservations at the Americas Best Value Inn just yet as I think their website only allows you to make reservations 6 months in advance. Current rates for a room with two queen beds in it at the Americas Best Value Inn is around $65 per night and I am sure this will change slightly when we get into the reservation window.

You can make reservations online for the Hampton Inn in Leeds now as I just made my reservation a few minutes ago. Go to Hilton.com and search for Leeds Ala and the Hampton Inn will come up. The hotel address is 310 Rex Lake Road, Leeds Alabama 35094. Current rates are $115 -$120 per night plus tax.

I am also checking into a group tour of the Barber Motorsports Museum Complex on Sunday May 27th . They do have a premium tour that includes touring of the restoration shop that is downstairs . This option is not included with the normal admission price of $15.00. The Premium Tour is given at 1:00pm on Sundays so that timing would work out great as we should be arriving there around that time. The Premium Tour is an additional $15.00 over the normal $15.00 general admission price but I have e mailed them to see if they offer a discount if you have a group of 10 or more adults. I will keep you posted on what they come back with but if you have never been to the Barber Motorsports Complex it is well worth the admission price and they recently completed a major expansion to the museum a year or so ago and it almost doubled the size of the museum. You can go to Barber's website to get more information on the museum and racetrack.

Other highlights of the Maggie Valley location is that Dale Walker's Wheels thru Time motorcycle museum is located in Maggie Valley also and it focuses on early American Motorcycles (Harley's , Indians, etc) and it is well worth visiting. They have some nice dioramas setup that depict various aspects of the motorcycle culture in the early 20th center. Additionally I will be leading a trip to Biltmore Estate one of the days we are in Maggie Valley for those that want to go and this will probably be a full day trip. If you are planning on visiting Biltmore Estate you will need to purchase tickets ahead of time as they schedule the tours throughout the day. Tickets for Biltmore can be purchased online as we get closer to our departure date. Other sites to see in the area include Chimney Rock State Park which is southeast of Asheville, The Asheville NC downtown area (we will also probably do dinner at one of the restaurants downtown one night) , Blue Ridge Parkway (which runs right by Maggie Valley), Smokey Mountain National Park, NC waterfall tour (see handout) , and other local rides which run from a couple of hrs to a full day trip.

I am sure we will have small groups doing different things every day so those that just want to ride can most likely hook up with other people who want to ride and there will probably be other groups that will want to do sightseeing or other things. The great thing about this trip is that there is plenty to take in and there should be something for everyone regardless of what your idea of a motorcycle trip is. You can also rent a car in Waynesville for those that don't want to ride while we are in Maggie Valley . The bonus is that we won't have to be packing up and moving each night since we will have 5 consecutive nights in Maggie Valley.

It's gonna be a great trip folks so make your reservations now . The cutoff date for reserving your room at Maggie Valley is April 1. On April 1 I am going to tell them to release the unreserved rooms back to the general hotel inventory. If you need to cancel your room after you have made your reservation you will need to let the hotel know at least 15 days prior to your arrival or you will be charged for one nights lodging.

Looking forward to it and everyone pray that the weather gods will treat us kindly.

You will need to call the hotels above or go online and book your rooms as they are not holding the rooms for us. Then only hotel that is holding room for us is the host hotel in Maggie Valley. (Johnathan Creek Inn). Those rooms are being held until April 15th and then will be released .

That only leaves our lodging for the last night in Monroe La. (Sunday June 3rd). I am working on it new and will let you know once I find something. Hotels in Monroe are running about $100-$125 per night but I am still looking for less expensive options.

Also as a reminder if you plan on going to Biltmore Estate and doing the tour while we are there you will need to reserve your spot in advance and buy tickets. You can do this online. If we want to go as a group then we can discuss at the next meeting and pick a day so everyone can get tickets for the same day.

If anyone has any questions on the above let me know .
