2017 Ride to Big Bend

Ok Friends,

I have our lodging accommodations for our ride to Big Bend as follows where we have decided to stay 2 nights in one motel in Alpine so we don’t have to pack up for at least one day.

Thu, Apr 27th – Brady, TX – I have 10 double bed rooms blocked at the Best Western under the name Lone Star Riders where you can call 325-597-3997 or 325-792-6346 and reserve a room under your name.

Now if you need a single king room, you can make that change. The doubles are $86.39 and the single kings are $77.39 plus tax

Fri & Sat, Apr 28 & 29 – Alpine, TX – I have another 10 double bed rooms blocked at the Quality Inn under the name Lone Star Riders for 2 nights, where you can call 432-837-1530 and reserve a room under your name.

Now if you need a single king room, you can make that change. The doubles are $129.00 and the single kings or queens are $125.00 plus tax

Sun, Apr 30th – Marathon, TX – I have 6 double bed rooms and an apartment blocked at the Marathon Motel & RV Park for the Lone Star Riders They have roll away beds and a hide-a-bed sofa in the apartment, so if need be we can get more people into a room for this last night, especially the apartment. And worst case Fort Stockton is not that far if we don’t have enough rooms. Then there is also the Gage hotel. So for now let’s call 432-386-4241 and get rooms reserved and then go from there. And who ever takes the apartment should be ready to share with more than one friend. And they charge a base price of $100 for the room plus $10 for each additional person, where the apartment is $130 plus $5 per additional person.

For now the itinerary is:

Thu, Apr 27th, - Everyone make it to Brady at your leisure for the evening. - 241 miles

Fri, Apr 28th - Ride to Alpine for the evening and have dinner at the Reata - 288 miles

Sat, Apr 29th - Ride to Ft Davis, the Observatory and either ride back to Ft Davis or take the loop south to connect with highway 17 to Marfa and on to Presidio. Then ride the River Road to Lajitas for lunch and then catch highway 118 back to Alpine for the evening – 322 miles

Sun, Apr 30th – Ride to Big Bend and spend the entire day in the park visiting Santa Elena Canyon, Lunch in the Chisos Basin, Rio Grand Village, Boquillas. Then ride to Marathon for the evening and most likely have dinner at the Gage. 286 miles

Mon, May 1st – Head for home - 519 miles. It’s possible that we may break this into 2 days.

So for now let’s get rooms reserved and decide who is going to share a room with whom. Then post up to let us know that you have a room and who will be rooming with you.
