·         Tuesday , May 26th: National River, 123 miles. We will be riding ancient river valleys of the New River George National  River, Gauley River National Recreation Area and the Meadow River.  We’ll see the train station and the last depots of the C&O Railroad.  Also, an operating gristmill at Babcock State Park (304-438-3004) and Cathedral Falls on Route 60 at Gauley Bridge’s will be stops.

·         Wednesday, May 27th: Coal Heritage South, 131 miles.  Travel over mountain roads of the southern coal fields passing through once booming coal communities.  We will stop at Twin Falls State Park (304-294-4000) to see the falls.  Several movies were filmed in this area.  The Virginian Railroad Museum is in Princeton (304-487-5060).

·         Thursday, May 28th: Coal Heritage North, 129 miles.  We will travel North across the New River Gorge Bridge, the third largest steel arch bridge in the world, enjoying views of waterfalls and the ancient New River.  Visitors can walk across the canyon on a 24 inch catwalk, 851 feet above the river. Guests are securely fastened to a safety cable.  Just north of the bridge is Canyon Rim Visitors Center where we will learn about the river and site features with a slide show and a museum.  We will see the merging of the New and Gauley Rivers at Kanawha Falls in Glen Ferris.  At Hawks Nest S.P. just north of the bridge, we can view the River Gorge.

(Hairpin Adventure Midland Trail/US Rt. 60 will be combined with the above tour.  It really looks great, 245 curves, with waterfalls, curves, bridges, etc).

Sandstone Falls is east of Beckley on I-64, but not included in the routes.

OPTION 1:  If you only have one week vacation, you can depart Beckley after the above rides and take three days to ride back home, total trip using 4 days of vacation on the 9 day trip (including the Memorial Day Holiday (Monday the 25th).

OPTION 2:  After the Beckley tour, we will ride to Gettysburg, PA.  Continuing on with that portion of the trip, returning home June 7, 2015

I REALLY recommend to anyone who is interested in this trip, to order the following literature from the State of West Virginia.

GETTYSBURG RIDE (WEEK 2)

Ok , I have reserved 6  rooms in Gettysburg for our trip in late May and early June.   We have 5 doubles and 1 king room reserved. The hotel is the Quality Inn in Gettysburg and is located  adjacent to the battlefield and is also close to downtown Gettysburg.  The rooms are all downstair's rooms and they are front entry so you can drive right up and park in front of your room.

I have reserved the rooms with my credit card under my name for arrival on Friday May 29th and departure on Monday June 1.  That will give us two full days to tour Gettysburg, the battlefield and museums.  You will need to call the hotel and give them one of the confirmation numbers listed below and have them transfer the reservation to your name and give them your credit card number to hold the room.  I will need to cancel any unspoken for rooms 48 hrs in advance  of our arrival so that they don't charge my credit card so make your reservations as soon as possible.  The confirmation numbers are:

1)  379764137 - -   I have reserved this room so don't use this number.

2)  379764138- double

3) 379764140  double

4)  379764141 double

5) 379764143 double

6 ) 379764491- king room

The rates are $143.95 weekends  (Fri night , Sat night) and $115.95  weekday (Sun night).

The hotel's phone number is :  717-334-1103

The hotel address is :

   380 Steinwehr Avenue

   Gettysburg Pa  17325

Please call to transfer the rooms to  your name and then let me know which confirmation number you are taking so we can keep track of the unspoken for confirmation numbers.  If we reserve all the rooms above and someone else wants to go they will have to contact the hotel directly to see if they have more rooms available.

(Right now they have a good selection of rooms in addition to the ones listed above but Gettysburg is a popular spot in the summer and there are usually a lot of events occurring  in May and June.)

Let me know if you have any questions or issues with making the reservations.
